Treasurer Janzen reported $474.82 in the bank and that national office had still not reimbursed the chapter for mailing costs.
Events chair Luloff reported that he is still trying to contact Twins' executive Jim Rantz to be guest speaker at the April 20 chapter meeting. Twins' Rob Antony and Ronnie Rabinowitz are also backup possibilities. Three presentations and trivia contest have been scheduled. Howard said he would try to contact Doug Ernst regarding audio-visual gear.
The board discussed plans to attend the film "42" after the chapter meeting.
Thornley reported that the April newsletter was online. He also emphasized the need to get the board minutes online in a timely fashion.
As membership chair, Thornley reported that only two new recent members have joined and neither has yet responded to questionnaires.
The research committee is currently in limbo. Thornley reported that the February meeting was canceled and no future meeting was scheduled. Mugalian said he would contact research chair Rich Arpi and try to work out a plan.
Mugalian reported that the June 15 book club meeting would consider "Francona: The Red Sox Years." The April meeting attracted six members.
There was no old business.
New business: Himrich reported that four candidates have announced to fill board seats for 2013-14. They are Gary DeSmith, Leanne Rohrbach, Scott Cummings, and Doug Skipper.
DeSmith forwarded a proposal to begin a chapter activity based on video of classic baseball games available on iTunes. Members would view a selected game and meet to discuss it. The board agreed to call it "The Vintage Video Club," and designated DeSmith to organize it.
There was some discussion of the planned Duluth trip in July to attend a Huskies game in the Northwoods League.
The next board meeting was scheduled for June 2 at 6 p.m. at Brenda's home, with a cookout planned to precede the meeting.
Adjournment was moved and seconded at 4:30.
