Spring Chapter Meeting
Bert Blyleven is scheduled to be the featured guest at the April 28 Chapter Meeting at the United Methodist Church, 950 Gould Avenue in Columbia Heights.

Contact Joe O’Connell at 651-776-8093 if you would like to make a research presentation. If you want a ticket for the Twins-Orioles game that night, send a check for $10 for each ticket to Joe at P. O. Box 600007, St. Paul, Minnesota 55106 by April 14 (make the check payable to Joe).

Twins Fest
The Halsey Hall Chapter received a lot of exposure and got the word out to a lot of potential members at Twins Fest in early February. Cary Smith coordinated our participation and was on hand at the Metrodome for the entire event. Along with Cary, Roger Godin, Lee Temanson, George Rekela, Fred Buckland, Ray Luurs, Howard Luloff, Bob Tholkes, Joe O’Connell, and your scribe staffed the table.

Hot Stove Saturday Morning
Fourteen members turned out for the Hot Stove Saturday Morning breakfast on February 10 for the standard fare of good food and even better baseball conversation. The next Hot Stove Saturday Morning will be April 7 at the usual location, Baker's Square at 66th and Xerxes in Richfield. Weather permitting (meaning if there is no snow on the ground), the after-breakfast event will be a tour of the baseball graves at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

New Members
The Halsey Hall Chapter welcomes new members Scott Magnuson and Mike Upton:

Scott Magnuson has been with the Minnesota Senate since 1978 and is now the director of the Senate’s Information Office. Scott went to his first baseball game in 1961 and also attended the 1965 All-Star Game at Met Stadium as well as Game 2 of the 1965 World Series when Bob Allison make his great catch. Scott has attended more than half of the Twins’ opening games, the 1985 All-Star Game, four of the five playoff games in 1987 (including two in Detroit), the 1987 World Series, and all of the home games during the 1991 playoffs and World Series. In addition to his interest in baseball, Scott also collects political memorabilia.

Mike “Sarge” Upton is a native of Cleveland who now lives in Edina with his wife, Linda. A fan since the age of five, Mike played high school and semi-pro ball and had a tryout with the Seattle Pilots. He attended Len Barker’s perfect game in Cleveland on May 15, 1981 and also attended the final game played at Cleveland Stadium with Bob Hope, Bob Lemon, and Bob Feller. Mike would like to join a Strat-o-Matic League or find participants willing to take part in a new league. Call Mike at 952-842-7589 if you are interested.

Cow Chips
Dr. Seth C. "Dr. Fan" Hawkins—who may be the world’s only person to have conversed with Jesse Ventura, Lester Maddox, and e. e. cummings—is going to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the Toronto-Texas season-opening game at Bithorn Stadium on April 1. . . . Howard Luloff, Barry Bengtsson, and Connie Hill were among the specators at the Metrodome on February 5 for the Pro-Alumni game versus the Gophers in which six Pro-Alumni pitchers combined to pitch a no-hitter.
