June-July 2015 Editor:
In June, Steve Ginader was elected president, Tom Flynn vice president, Frank Kadwell secretary, and Jerry Janzen treasurer. Tom then reappointed the chairs of all standing committees: Howard Luloff for the Events Committee, Sarah Johnson and Brenda Himrich for the Research Committee, and Stew Thornley for the Membership Committee. The group discussed Saturday, October 24 as a possible date for the Fall Chapter Meeting, although this is tentative. The Halsey Hall Chapter appreciates the service of the outgoing directors and especially Doug Skipper, who served as president during the past year. Sean Aronson Tweets, Talks, and Titillates before Full House at Spring Chapter Meeting Sean covered his background, growing up in southern California, graduating from high school in Colorado, and attending college at the University of Colorado. He was an intern for the minor-league team in Colorado Springs before going onto then broadcasting/media-relation jobs in Allentown, Pennsylvania; Fort Myers, Florida; and, since 2007, the St. Paul Saints. Sean also talked about the new Saints ballpark, which includes the Treasure Island Terrace, referred to internally as the TIT. The meeting drew more than 30 members and guests: Aaron Sinner, Jerry Janzen, S. Thornley, Brenda Himrich, Howard Luloff, Bob Komoroski, Armand Peterson, Hans van Slooten, Art Mugalian, Rich Arpi, Frank White, Berry Bengtsson, Jeff Lenz, Joe OConnell, Lee Temanson, Gene Gomes, Doug Ernst, Josh Ostergaard, Roger Godin, Dave Jensen, Jim McKernon, Brent Heutmaker, Norman Heutmaker, Emma Charlesworth-Seiler, Doug Skipper, Dan Levitt, Aaron Stilly, Frank Kadwell, Lloyd Kepple, George Rekela, Joe Niese, Brian Madigan, and Jim McNearney. The meeting had three research presentations, Dan Levitt on Pat Gillick, Joe Niese on Burleigh Grimes and Andy Pafko, and Frank White on black baseball in the area. Armand Peterson brought a poster on black baseball among town teams and briefly presented on it. A silent auction raised $242 for the chapter. Upcoming activities:
